With summer just around the corner, you’re going to want to take the most out of the outdoors. Luckily, there are plenty of opportunities to discover the city (and each other) all around.

While walking around Paris is always a good plan, here are some quintessential places to structure an unforgettable (and relatively inexpensive) day for young couples ready to face the sun.

10am: Local Markets

169-11

Start off your day right with a visit to local markets in search of the freshest produce. If you’re on the Left Bank, Marché Saint Germain is a great start (Where? 4/6 rue Lobineau 75006 When? Open every morning from 8:30AM to 1:30PM. Metro: Mabillon, Line 10). Of course, most of the markets host a diverse array of goods to meet all of your gastronomic delights, and you can find a full list of Parisian markets here (link in French).

12pm: Scenic Picnic

With bread, cheese, and fruits in hand, a relaxed mid-day meal seems most fitting with beautiful scenery to accompany it. Walk along the Seine for beautiful views of the city, stopping along the way to sit, eat, and enjoy each other’s company. Of course, any of the Parisian parks also serve as peaceful reposes for a picnic. For example, the Jardin des Plantes is easily accessible from the Seine.

(Where? 57 rue Cuvier 75005 Paris. When? Open every day from 7:30AM to 8PM. Metro: Austerlitz or Jussieu, Lines 5, 7, and 10)

3pm: Afternoon stroll

Paris waits to be explored on foot or by bike (with a Vélib’) – take advantage of the weather to check out different districts and bask in the rays illuminating the city! The museums, expos, and shops are endless (shopping tip: check out Le Bon Marché at 24 rue de Sèvres 75007)  – but on a beautiful day, you will most find that Parisians are outdoors with you.

7pm: Winding down

After a long day of sightseeing, wind down with some refreshing cocktails at Au Sauvignon, a classic Parisian wine bar with A-level service where a glass of wine can rejuvenate the senses. (Where? 80 rue des Saints-Pères When? Mon-Fri, from 8AM to 11PM and Sundays from 9AM to 10PM. Metro: Sèvres-Babylone, Lines 10 and 12)

Screen Shot 2015-06-08 at 15.39.46 copyOr, if you are already ravenous, Au Pied de Fouet is an intimate, hole-in-the-wall 150 year-old French restaurant with affordable and delicious French cuisine, perfect for romantic dinners. Enjoy a delectable confit de canard for less than 11€, accompanied with wine and finished with their specialty Tarte Tatin, all in a convivial atmosphere.

(Where? 45 Rue de Babylone 75007 When? Monday-Saturday from 12PM to 2:30PM and 7PM to 9:30PM, closed Saturday nights. Metro: Saint-François-Xavier, Line 13)

10pm: After Dinner Drinks

End your romantic day at a cosy bar in the Left Bank, particularly at La Compagnie des Vins Surnaturels. You can savor your night and your date in a comfortable setting, chat over a glass of wine, and think of the warm days to come. (Where? 7 Rue Lobineau, 75006. When? Open every day from 6PM to 2AM. Metro: Odéon, Lines 4 and 10).
