A Chinese artist in a store?

«Er Xi» («Child’s play») is the latest exhibition by Chinese dissident artist Ai Weiwei in a most surprising place: Left Bank chic department store Le Bon Marché. Last time he was in Paris, it was during exhibition Folia Continua! at the CentQuatre ( a creative cultural center in North Paris).

Discover his monumental poetical and dreamlike creations in the shops windows and scattered a bit everywhere in the store.

Ai WeiWei, by the tourist in Paris

Why choose a store? Why such a choice? According to the 58-year old artist it’s a way “to reach a new public by using a new media”.

The stubborn advocate of human rights and freedom of speech, inspired by Marcel Duchamp and Andy Warhol, friend with Jeff Koons, has based this exhibition on mythology, a world of dream and true mirror of our society.

So come shop and enjoy a unique exhibition on the Left Bank!

When? From January 16th to February 20th

Where? Bon Marché Rive Gauche
24 rue de Sèvres 75007 Paris
Metro: Sèvres-Babylone (Lines 10 & 12)
