Established in 1903 on Rue de Rivoli, Angelina has been for over a century the exclusive Paris address for hot chocolate and Mont Blanc pastries.
Located in Paris 1st arrondissement, just opposite the Jardin des Tuileries and not far from the Louvre Museum, the traditional tea house, known as the place to be among the early 20th century Parisian elite, has built a long lasting reputation of sophistication that allowed its expansion not only within Paris but also overseas.
A combination of meringue, chestnut paste and whipped cream
Old-fashioned hot chocolate called “L’Africain”, a secret recipe combining three different types of cocoa resulting in a thick distinctive hot chocolate, together with The Mont-Blanc pastry, a combination of meringue, chestnut paste and whipped cream, are the true can’t-miss at Angelina (you actually pour your chocolate on your pastry!)
An interior design room shaped to the Belle Époque style captivates your attention the moment you step in giving you a sensation of refinement, majestic/elegance and charm. Gold gilt mirrors displayed along the walls and marble topped‐tables are one of its distinctive decor that remains unaltered to this day.
Angelina is not only about tea time, options ranging from gourmet sandwiches and salads to an à la carte menu giving you the choice of either having breakfast, brunch, lunch, tea or an early dinner.
Nine other locations can be found in Paris, Boulevard Haussmann’s Galeries Lafayette, Musée du Luxembourg or Château de Versailles are among them. Yet there is no such a thing like going to the original house in Rue de Rivoli, it is worth a splurge if you can.
On busy days, you might have to queue for a table. Don’t worry, it goes fast and the result goes beyond saying.
