Amanda Bankert and Louis Scott, a couple of American expats in Paris, have been famous for the past few years for baking doughnuts for some of Paris best coffee shops (that we also warmly recommend, Ob-La-Di and Le Peloton, both in Le Marais district).

They now have their own tiny and welcoming donut shop in Le Sentier district in center Paris, called Boneshaker Doughnuts,  where you can enjoy classic and massive cinnamon rolls or maple syrup/bacon dougnnuts.

But what strikes you here the most is the way they revisit, with French technics, your favorite sugary American hand rolled sweet food, with original and creative versions, like the famous “Paris ham, cheese and mustard sauce”, called the croque-nuts (like the French croque-monsieur)!

All donuts are handmade each morning using free range eggs and seasonal fruits & veggies.

The owners explain: “It takes two days to make our doughnuts: our signature dough, similar to a brioche, is made in the evening and left to rise overnight. The next morning it is hand-rolled before each doughnut is individually cut and shaped and left to rise a second time. After, they are fried and glazed. The whole process takes about 18 hours, start to finish”.

Result: Remarquable quality of the food and incredible flavor combination; so good for a gourmet treat anytime of the day (from breakfast to snack).

Be careful if you’re on diet, you won’t stop after just one. And the owners are so friendly, it is hard to say no!

You also have to taste their delicious filtered coffee, brewed by Belleville Brûlerie, a local coffee maker in North Paris. Don’t like coffee? They also have their own hand-squeezed lemonades and juices.
