Balades en Seine, in its 6th year, is offering Sunday cruises from June 28th to September 20th to discover Paris and its relationship with Impressionist art. These are great opportunities to take the road less travelled and discover the Seine and Paris under a different light.

The narrated cruise takes you on an artistic journey around the Paris region, explaining the sights and experiences that influenced the grand masters of impressionism. Monet, Sisley, Pissarro, Cézanne, Van Gogh, and Manet were all inspired along the banks of the Seine in West Paris, where the cruise will take place.

During your vacation, dive into the atmosphere of the late 19th century and see Paris and its surrounding nature and scenery in a new light, as Gennevilliers inspired Caillebotte and the island of Chatou did Renoir. Orchestras will serenade you on each boat, and little stories and the history of each painter is revealed all along the cruise.

Balades en Seine, by The Tourist in Paris

Profit from the sun and Sunday relaxation with a cruise in art history around the Paris region. Each Sunday has 4 boats departing at two times, either 2:30PM or 4:30PM. The first will take you from Sèvres to Paris to observe the Parisian places that inspired many an impressionist painter, passing by l’île Seguin. Or, you can head towards l’île de la Jatte, which inspired many painters to express the “joie de vivre” felt at many of the guinguettes of the time. Alternatively, two routes from Reuil heading to Gennevilliers or le Pecq allows you to discover places such as l’île de Chatou, the lock at Bougival and the basin of Argenteuil.

Far from being touristy, these cruises are wonderful opportunities to take the most out of your Sundays in Paris. Look at their official website (link in French), or click on the links on the four destinations to book tickets for them respectively.
