As from April 2017, Chatomat is now closed.
We’re sad to see them go and we’ll let you know asap where the owners bounce back!
It’s one of our favorite hidden gourmet restaurants, for food lovers and couples looking for a spot off the crowds, in Menilmontant, in the rising 20th arrondissement in East Paris.
What used to be a working-class neighbourhood, along with Belleville, is now one of the busiest art scene and cosmopolitan place in Paris. Three minutes away from the Menilmonant metro station, and very close to the dynamic Oberkampf street -where you can head for a drink after dinner-, Chatomat is a one of kind neo-bistrot for a lovely dinner.
Located in a tiny street, at the right angle to Belleville street, this small venue is one the best example and pioneer of the new Parisian wave of cooking and hosting: creative French cuisine, hand-picked products, tasty meet and fish cooking, daring food combining, solid wine choice, a subdue lighting to create a romantic atmosphere and an industrial design -exposed stone facade- to polish this warm setting. All at very affordable prices!
The kind of restaurant you book a few days prior to your arrival in Paris (and it’s only 24 seats). Perfect for your Friday or Saturday romantic night out.
