A night at the museum sounds like a kid movie in which dinosaurs and statues come to life but it’s also a major yearly artsy event in Europe.

What is the European Night of Museums? The European museum night was created in 2005 by the French Ministry of Culture and Communication.

For a night on Saturday, May 20th, 2017, over 1,300 museums in France (3000 across Europe) take part in this event, which sees them extend their opening hours to 1am for special activities and to allow the public to see the collections after dark.

What museums will be open for this special night? The Louvre (75001), Musée Cognacq-Jay (75003), Centre Pompidou (75004), Musée du Luxembourg (75006), Musée du Quai Branly (75007), Grand Palais and Musée Cernuschi (75008), Palais de Tokyo (75016) or the Foundation Louis Vuitton and more. More on this map.

Free admission.
