For once, Parisians don’t mind the crowds. This event is going to cheer you up.

Starting this Thursday, through Sunday, in front of City hall, Mairie de Paris, the fourth edition of the Fnac Live Festival. Fnac, the biggest French entertainment retail chain, is throwing free concerts, 28 artists, and two stages, for four days and the friendly weather should drag thousands of people down there (90.000 last year). Concerts start at 5:30pm.

What kind of music? For all ears but not too mainstream. From French pop (famous artist -M-) and variety (beloved singer Bernard Lavilliers) to British electro (with virtuoso band Breton).

Is it kid friendly? Despite the huge amount of people expected, your children should enjoy the music from 5:30 to 7:30pm, before Parisian workers hit the stage after office hours.

We recommend:

Thursday, 9.30pm. -M-. In france M aka Matthieu Chedid is a monument of rock and funk. He became famous in the 90s; from a family of artists. He can’t be missed on stage.

Saturday, 7pm. La Femme. French syrocket rock band. We assure you will dance.

Saturday, 8pm. Breton. What more to be said. Just listen to one track.

Saturday, 9:30pm. Fauve. 2013 has been the year of Fauve in France. Unquestonably the most celebrated band of last year.

Sunday, 6:15pm. Mina Tindle is a French pop-folk singer rising star – singing in English. Soft music for a Sunday.

Here’s the complete program.
