The label of “lowbrow” art is put into question with an exhibition dedicated to just that: artistic expressions of the counterculture, “rough art,” coming to Paris in a celebration of its rich diversity and merit.

By breaking artistic norms, works of 63 artists around the world, from Ed Hardy to Horiyoshi III to Mark Ryden, are coming to the Halle Saint-Pierre in Montmartre, in North Paris from September 19th, 2015 to March 13th, 2016.

Halle Saint-Pierre, right at the foot of Sacré-Coeur, is a venue known for its alternative expositions on popular contemporary art, in Montmartre that has always been filled with artists such as van Gogh, Picasso, and Dali.

An underground and still marginal world

Gregory Halili, by the Tourist in Paris

Anne & Julien, the organizers of this exhibit, are two art critics and activists working to reveal the artists and works of this underground and still marginal world. As the visual arts world enters a period of crisis and transition, HEY! Modern Art & Pop Culture is here to follow and reveal this rich dynamic. Gabriel Grun, Thomas Woodruff, Marion Peck, Aleksandar Todorovic – and many more – will be presented.

If you are looking for an artistic experience that is inspiringly out-of-the-ordinary, surpassing boundaries, resistant to categorization and institutions – HEY! Modern Art & Pop Culture is the expo for you. Check out their vibe on Halle Saint Pierre’s Facebook page.

When? From September 19th, 2015 to March 13th, 2016. Open weekdays from 11AM to 6PM, Saturdays from 11AM to 7PM, and Sundays from 12PM to 6PM.

Where? Halle Saint Pierre, 2, rue Ronsard, 75018 Paris
Metro: Anvers (line 2) or Abbesses (line 12)
