Pedestrianization is the new trend. The mayor of Paris, Anne Hidalgo, announced in 2015 her plans to pedestrianise the right bank of the river Seine, occupied right now by a highway along the river. Like the left river banks, pedestrianised two years ago (read our article here), cars will not be allowed on the river banks anymore.

One the ideas would be to pedestrianize the banks from Bastille to the Jardin des Tuileries (or even to the Eiffel Tower)! A public consultation among locals started in 2015 to choose how much of the bank river should be closed to traffic.

Cultural and sport activities, garden, children’s play areas and leisure spots, will be the key ingredients on these renovated pedestrians-only banks by the water.

When you see what they have done with the first banks, Parisians would totally endorse this decision (the drivers a bit less!). Decision will be announced this Fall 2015.
