What if, you could eat a true Neapolitan pizza in a trendy trattoria in Paris at the price you would pay in Napoli?

That’s the new challenge of the founders of the BigMamma Group (East Mamma, Ober Mamma, Mamma Primi and Big Love Café), who decided to cut prices and open the doors in March 2017 of Pizzeria Popolare, in the Sentier district.

Pizza Napolitaine da Big Mamma -Mammargherita

A brand new concept with true Italian pizzas from 5€ (the Margherita), with products and toppings brought straight from Italian producers. The most expensive pizzas on the menu will not exceed the price of 12€ and will have some tasty suprises like the black pizza. According to an exclusive interview the founder gave to L’Express, the cheapest pizza will be the Marinara (San Marzano tomato, garlic, Sicilian origan and fresh basil) at just… 4€!

How do they do that? Not with cheap products but thanks to strong and long-lasting business and personal relationships with local producers.

On the menu, you’ll also find some true sugary Italian gems (gianduja churros), a risotto (with acquerello rice), a Caesar salad with Neapolitan anchoves, Italian street-food to share, fried pulled pork, Adriatic calamari fritti, an Italian artisanal poplare birra (beer), etc.

Pizzeria Popolare will also be a unique cocktail bar with a choice of thousands of liquors, mostly Italian of course.

The Big Mamma Group?

The Big Mamma guys decided in 2015 to revolutionize traditional Italian trattorias in Paris. All products and food are imported straight from Italian local producers and then home made in the restaurant’s wood oven. How do they do that? Both founders travelled through Italy for a year to bring back the best of local and traditional trattoria atmospheres, food, wine and quality of service. They also met with their local producers there. They do know when they talk of “true Italian cuisine a true Italian prices“. And even their staff, Italian for most of it, will perfectly guide you through your meal. The food and products are then imported to the restaurant on a daily or weekly basis and everything is made, prepared and cooked on site.
